This EP was written during my freshman year of college and centers around my decline in mental health due to quarantining.
"Blur of Touch" is about the inability for me to feel grounded in any of my relationships at the time; it felt like everyone was floating around me. I felt tempted to give up on feeling at ease in my social life and wrote this song as a way to express what I wanted to say to everyone.
"Feel Them" auditorily and phonetically surrounds my grandparent's house on Martha's Vineyard. Throughout the song, I include samples of bird calls, their pond, and their grandmother clock to enclose you inside of the environment that this song lives in. The lyrics allude to the moments of uncomfortable physical invasion that happened in that house. The more you look at the words, the ickier it gets.
This is the title track of the EP and surrounds my relationship with my girlfriend at the time. This song was (fun fact) a dare from her and secretly alludes to my feelings of lack of control and self-identity in the relationship. The final line "And I will" is referenced in Tar Queen, and the ending is a scratched-out sample from "The Triangular Staring Contest".
I wrote this song to myself as a note to relax in a new environment and to provide my own emotional stability in a world of unknowns.
The artwork was created by the wonderful Rose Cataudella and highlights the loneliness and isolation felt in what was supposed to be a home.
